Description

Traditional Furugata Kokeshi decorative doll, made by the Artist Isao Sasaki.

Simplicity and harmony characterize this kokeshi. The Kimono is decorated

with black flowers. The Kokeshi has the natural color of wood, the body is

elongated and the head is round, classic shape of the oldest Kokeshi Dolls.

The Artist Oki Izumi was born in 1956 in the city of Shibukawa in the prefecture of Gunma.

She has won numerous awards including:

1984: "Rookie of the Year"

1994: "Creative Kokeshi Association Award"

1997: "Tokyo Shinbun Award"

1998: "Minister of Education Award"

2013: "Forestry Agency chief Award"

She is a member of the National Association of Creative Kokeshi.
